You can customise your geographic information in Tools menu > System Maintenance > Customised Configuration > Date & Geography tab.

Geographic Datum

A Geographic (or Geodetic) Datum is a coordinate system used to locate points for places and objects on the earth. The Datum defines reference points and features like a standard sea level. The most common system for modern GPS units is WGS 84, but older references are often in older formats like NZGD1949.

You can set the default geographic datum for your site. The system will assume that your Latitude and Longitude information uses this datum.

Latitude Direction

Choose between North or South for latitude direction. The default is North. You can enter a specific latitude direction in any record e.g. 37° 30' North if your system defaults to South then 37° 30' will be interpreted as 37° 30' South.

Decimal latitudes also use the default direction e.g. if your default is South then 37.5 will be interpreted as 37.5' South.

Longitude Direction

Choose between East or West for longitude direction. The default is East. You can enter a specific longitude direction in any record e.g. 42° 45' West. If your system defaults to East then 42° 45' will be interpreted as 42° 45' East.

Decimal longitudes also use the default direction e.g. if your default is East then 42.75 will be interpreted as 42.75' East.
