WHAT IT'S USED FOR:
The Barcode field, also known as the External Tracking System (ETS) ID, is validated by the Manual Barcode Configuration window. You can enter a barcode number for each defined part of an object in the Part edit table, or you can enter a barcode number for the whole object. If one part of an object has a barcode number then the rest of the parts need to have a barcode number.
You can also assign a barcode number to each location in the Location authority file.
The Barcode field name is configurable in the Manual Barcode Configuration. You can use any name for the field. You can change the search and reporting field names in the Field Name Override tool which takes precedence over the Manual Barcode Configuration.
WHERE TO FIND IT:
The Barcode field is found in the Media, Measurement tab of the Object Identification window and the Location authority file main data entry window.
HOW TO USE IT:
The barcode field is validated by the settings in the Manual Barcode Configuration. Enter allowed characters in the field. If you enter data in the Barcode Whole Object field, the Barcode field in the Part edit table will disable. If you enter data in the Part edit table Barcode field the Barcode Whole Object field will disable.
Note that if you use barcodes for parts, you must assign a barcode to all parts. You can assign the same barcode number to more than one part.
