WHAT IT'S USED FOR:

The Filename Prefix field can be used to strip off a common prefix from image filenames, to enable the images to be linked to object accession numbers or system IDs.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

The bulk Import & Link Images window.

HOW TO USE IT:

Enter the prefix. This field is not case sensitive.

For example, if your image filenames started with the prefix VSM, such as VSM2012_46_7.jpg, you would enter VSM in the Filename Prefix field.

Please note that you can only enter one prefix at a time, so if image files have many different prefixes, you will need to process them in separate batches.

Filename Prefix is not as comprehensive as Filename Suffix, so you should try to avoid using prefixes where possible. The folder structure you use for storing and locating images can replace the need for a filename prefix. Please read the topic on storing images or contact VSL for further details.
