Pre parse (Accession Number Format)

Scroll More

WHAT IT'S USED FOR:

Validating accession number formats sometimes requires additional logic in the form of a Pre parse routine.  Pre parse routines are created by Vernon Systems and are specific to your site.  Contact us if you need a Pre parse for a format, or for help with using the accession number format tool.

For example, you may have an accession number '1999-100-123a-c', where the first two dashes (-) are Segment delimiters, and the third (between the letters 'a' and 'c') is a Range delimiter. In this example a pre parse routine can convert the first two dashes to '.' or'/' (or some other character) before the system interprets the number. The actual number will still be displayed in its original form.  Pre parse is used here to ensure that accession number validation is enacted correctly.
