Max. Length (Accession Number Format)

Scroll More

WHAT IT'S USED FOR:

From the term entered in the Segment type field, the system will deduce the maximum number of characters allowed in a segment of an accession number format.  The system will then automatically enter this number in the Max. Length field, which is part of an edit table used by the system for Accession number validation.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

The Definition Page of the Accession Number Formats window.

HOW TO USE IT:

Max. Length is a controlled field.  You can only view this field.  The system deduces the maximum number of characters allowed for each segment of the format.

If you are unfamiliar with edit tables it is very important to read about them before attempting to edit this field.
