Procedural Control

Scroll More

An Object or Activity can have a Procedural Status that indicates the legal or current status an Object or Activity is in. These statuses are like the life cycle of an object within your institution. A common flow is that a record begins as a "Considered Item", becomes "Accession" when it is part of your collection, the becomes "Deaccessioned" if it ends up no longer being part of the collection.  For an Activity, Procedural statuses reflect the stage an Activity is in. For example. Exhibition Venue may have the statuses "Proposed", "In Planning", "Installation", "On Show" and then "Closed".

Procedural Control manages the order of your Procedural Statuses and any additional actions, reports, tasks or messages associated with a status.

For example, after a record is saved, your Procedural Control could automatically generate a report, send an email, or assign tasks. You can also decide that certain fields in a record must be filled in before the record can be saved with that Procedural Status.
