Controlling Institution is usually used if there are multiple institutions using Vernon CMS together.
When objects from several institutions have been entered into the database and this data can be accessed by any of the institutions, the Controlling Institution field records which of the institutions is responsible for an object. Controlling Institution should not be used to indicate legal or formal ownership of an Object.

Sorting is available for this field, select 'Controlling Institution'.
