Vernon CMS Help

Immediate Subordinate, or Member, objects are not entered directly in the field.  They are automatically recorded by the system when you record a Group Object in the Next Higher Record in Group field for other objects, and are displayed in the Member Object field for the appropriate record.

Therefore, if you are looking at a Group Object record, and want to record some subordinate objects for it, retrieve or create the subordinate object records, and enter the Group Object in the Next Higher Record in Group field.  The next time you retrieve the Group Object record, it will be showing those subordinate objects in the Member Objects field. You may create a record for a photograph called 'John Prescott with Lion', from a photograph album called 'The Early Years', which is one of a set of three making up 'The Prescott Albums'.

You will then enter the album "The Early Years'  in the Next Higher Record in Group field for the photograph.

Once you have done this (and saved it) you can retrieve the record for the album 'The Early Years' and see that it now automatically displays the photograph 'John Prescott with Lion' as a member object - i.e. you record Group Object and the system records Member objects.  See Reciprocal Updating, above, for more information.
