To find the internal field name or the FMC (Field Mark Count) or a field, click in that field and press Alt+F1,or go to the Help menu > Database Information.
A small window will open on your screen, displaying database information. At the bottom of this window are the internal field name and FMC of the field your cursor is currently in.

If the field is in a table, internal field names and FMCs will be listed in the order that columns appear in the table.

You can also use the Field Usage Count tool to get a list of all the fields in a datafile, and their internal field name and FMC number.
