Vernon CMS can log User's access to areas of the system protected with security. These logs do not track changes made by the User, just access. The Audit Log tracks any changes made by a User. This can be useful to see who attempted to look at sensitive records (e.g. Deaccessioned objects), or when the User ran a Process (e.g. Bulk Move).
Activate the Security Log
1.Go to Tools menu > System Maintenance > Security Tool.
2.Click on the the Configuration button.
3.Tick the Security Logs Active checkbox.
4.For Process security you can also choose to:
- Don't Log Anything: Security Logs will only record access to Datafiles, not Processes.
- Unsuccessful Attempts Only: Security Logs will only record failed attempts to access a Process.
- Log All Accesses: Security Logs will record all successful and unsuccessful attempts to access a Process.
5.Click OK. Vernon CMS will need to be restarted on other computers before the changes will take effect.
Clearing the Security Log
It is important to regularly clear the Security Log so that the stored access records do not accumulate and take up unnecessary disk space.
Clearing the Security Log deletes any records stored in the log since the last time it was cleared.
1.Go to Tools menu > System Maintenance > Security Tool.
2.Click on Clear Data Log button and then click Yes.
3.Click on Clear Process Log and then click Yes.
