An Accession Number is a unique number given to every object by your organisation.
Most organisations have more than one type of Accession Number:
•For accessioned or loaned objects (e.g. 2011.1, or L2014.2).
•For historic Accession Numbers (e.g. VM235/689).
•For departments (e.g. P456.23.a-d (photography), NS2019.1 (natural sciences)).
In Vernon CMS, Accession Number Formats control Accession Numbers and prevent new or incorrect numbers from being assigned.
Before setting up an Accession Number Format, consider the different parts of your Accession Number. You will want to break up the different segments in your Accession Number.
