Vernon CMS Help

Supplementary Rights are Groups that are based on functionality, not Users, e.g. a Group with permission to view and edit Valuation information, instead of a Group for cataloguers. Supplementary Rights are generally used by institutions with large amounts of staff using Vernon CMS, or institutions with complex security requirements.

For example, you might create Groups with the rights for

Location transactions

Viewing and editing Valuations

Bulk Image upload, and deleting images

Editing Activities

Each User could belong to multiple different Groups to give them the appropriate rights. For example, a User might belong to the Cataloguer Group (to edit records), an Image Group (to bulk upload images), and an XML Import Group (to use Bulk Import and XML Import tool).

Create a Supplementary Right

This example will create a Group for the right to access Valuations.

1.Go to Tools menu > System Maintenance > Security Tool > Groups.

2.Type in a new group name into the Name field, e.g. Valuation Rights.

3.Add a description about what rights are allowed for this Group. For example, This Group can view and edit the valuation window in Object and use the Bulk Valuation Update tool.

4.Add PUBLIC (or your organisations base Group) as a subordinate Group. This allows Users to log into Vernon CMS and access basic functions.

5.Click the Allow More Processes button in the bottom left of the window.

6.Select all of the Processes you want to allow.
For example:
- Menu Database Object Copyright & Valuation
- Menu Tools Bulk Valuation Update
- Window Object Copyright & Valuation

7.Click OK and save the record.

8.Add Users to this Group.
