Vernon CMS Help

This list allows you to specify the display status, label and authority type for each of the search fields available in the Advanced Search page for this Group. If you have specified an Export Configuration for the Group Configuration record, the system will automatically populate this edit table. You can then edit each field as necessary.

Button FieldDetails

Use the Field Details button to the side to access the field label details. The first Label is simply the label that will appear by each field in the search screen in Vernon Browser.

If the field is authority controlled you can choose whether to include the authority list for use in the Advanced Search. If you are exporting the Authority list, you will need to specify a label for this as well. You can use the checkbox to allow online catalogue users to select more than one authority search value.

Each of the fields is listed with a letter to the left - this letter signifies whether the search field is Text only, Authority only or Both.

Book Index

Use the reorder button to alter the ordering of the fields, for display in the Vernon Browser.

Button YesNo

Use this button to mark the fields as displayed or not. The display status is useful if different groups have different fields that are relevant. For instance, you may wish to search on the maker for records in the Australian Aboriginal Art Group, but this will probably not be relevant for records in the Australasian Natural History Group.

WHERE TO FIND IT:

Access the Vernon Browser Group Configuration window via the Advanced Configuration.

HOW TO USE IT:

The Index Name field is a protected field.  The system will populate this field based on any Export Configuration specified for this Group.

The Label field is a text field.  Simply press [F2] with the cursor in the label field and key in the text required.

The Type field is authority controlled, so press [Ctrl + Down Arrow] or click the Options button to access options for this field.  However, you must select either Authority Type 1 or 2 if the field has an authority type displaying in the adjacent Authority field.

The Authority field is a protected field.  The system will populate this field based on the Index Name for each field.

The Display? Field is a Yes/No field so these will be the only two options you can enter. The default value is yes, therefore if you do not want a particular field (or fields) to be displayed in the Advanced Search page for this Group you must enter 'n' or 'no' in this field.

The Reorderbutton will bring up the Reorder edit table window. Simply select a field and move it to a different position by clicking on the up/down arrows provided.
