Vernon CMS Help

A User is the user name that people use to log into Vernon CMS.

Ideally every person who can make changes in Vernon CMS should have their own user name. However, sometimes it is more appropriate for people to share a user name. There is no limit to how many people can log in with the same user name.

Benefits to having individual users

User specific folders are created in Portfolio.

Track and report on changes made by the User with the Audit Tool.

Update History (among the display fields in the Reporting window) can report on who made changes and when.

Log access (successful or not) to certain Processes and Datafiles.

Built-in Users

Do not remove these Users from the Supervisor Group.

COLLECT: Vernon Systems staff use this User for support queries.

INDEXING: This User is a dedicated background indexing machine. If you are a large site with more than five Users you may wish to install a dedicated indexing workstation to handle background indexing continuously. This workstation should be logged on as INDEXING.

UPGRADE: This User is for applying an upgrade to Vernon CMS.
